Welcome to Fighting For Tomorrow: A Parent’s Journey With A Suicidal Teen

Hi, I’m Maggie Wilson, a proud parent from Richmond, Virginia, and a marketing executive balancing the demands of my career while navigating the challenges of raising a teen struggling with severe mental health issues.

Over the years, my child has faced nine hospitalizations due to suicide attempts and self-harm, and countless moments of fear, uncertainty, and heartache. Yet through it all, I’ve learned the immense power of resilience, the importance of advocacy, and how crucial it is to hold onto hope—even when the road ahead seems impossibly hard.

This blog is deeply personal, reflecting my experiences as a parent in Henrico County, Virginia. Raising a child with mental health challenges can be isolating, and as I’ve walked this path, I’ve learned that the journey can feel incredibly lonely. That’s why I created this space: to share my story, offer resources, and connect with other parents who may be facing similar struggles. You are not alone.

In addition to supporting my teen, I’m also the proud parent to a young adult and have the joy of being a stepmom to three bonus young adults. Like many of you, I balance the demands of career and family while trying to be the best advocate I can for my children. This blog shares not only my family’s struggles and small victories, but also the resources and lessons I’ve learned while navigating the complex world of teen mental health. Whether you’re just starting this journey or are already deep in the trenches, my hope is to provide connection, encouragement, and the strength to keep fighting for a better tomorrow for your child.

Together, we can make it through.

Thank you for visiting, and I’m so glad you’re here. Together, we can fight for tomorrow.
